The portraits are coming along alright. I have some other ideas for other painting series, in the event that I EVER have a show of my own. One is cacti, one is mountains, another is "what is it?" I have had this idea for a while and have accumulated many pictures to use as references. At first I wanted to just use the photos themselves, but now I am thinking maybe painting them would put a little more zing into the images. Who knows? It seems like I am always playing catch up on projects. Scrambling around to put something together...and when it comes to oil painting scrambling does not move quickly. It is always easier to work when inspired...easier=faster. otherwise the re-paints get boring. And life is always getting in the way of reaching my goals. Why do I have to eat and sleep? and all that mundane stuff. I have trimmed a lot of things out of my life so at least I do see some progress in my work. I love to paint. I love to try new things, learn new things. It's a great experience. The pictures are from the "what is it?" references.

LOVE these photos. I think they stand alone as strong photos, personally. Although it might be fun to paint them, the images are artful enough already.
